It comes as a piece of great news that Jaipur the iconic pink city gets a place among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The UNESCO shared a Tweet – “Just inscribed as @UNESCO #WorldHeritage Site: Jaipur City in Rajasthan, #India. Bravo,” This Marvelous News Came During the 43rd meeting of World Heritage Centre being held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The World Heritage Committee consists of representatives of 21 States Parties to the World Heritage Convention who meet yearly. The Committee is Responsible for executing the Convention. So Far, 1,092 websites in 167 countries have been inscribed on the World Heritage List.
UNESCO said – The city was proposed to be nominated for its value of being an exemplary development in town planning and architecture that demonstrates an amalgamation and important exchange of ideas in the late medieval period. In town planning, it shows an interchange of ancient Hindu, Mughal and contemporary Western ideas that resulted in the form of the city,”
UNESCO Website wrote an article stating – “The fortified city of Jaipur, in India’s northwestern state of Rajasthan, was founded in 1727 by Sawai Jai Singh II. Unlike other cities in the region located in hilly terrain, Jaipur was established on the plain and built according to a grid plan interpreted in the light of Vedic architecture. The streets feature continuous colonnaded businesses that intersect in the center, creating large public squares called chaupars,”
